Julie and Shaun are the epitome of troopers. Our venue plans got derailed, the sun decided it wasn’t ready for spring, and there might have been a police man join the celebration at one point. Nevertheless, they rolled with it and were completely calm. (annnd even indulged my cheesy jokes)

When couples relax and enjoy time with each other, we’re able to capture amazing natural reactions and authentic emotions. Having a relaxed environment also means that having photos taken feels less like “having photos taken” and more like hanging out with friends. This leads to magical photos during engagement sessions and wedding portraits and these two nailed it.
For the location, we went to one of our new favorite places - Sweet Briar College. This beautiful campus with tons of variety is tucked right in between Lynchburg and Charlottesville. For their outfits, Julie’s dress, shoes, and details were a dream and Shaun’s dapper selections were amazing choices. All of these things combined means that this session is becoming one of my fast favorites!

We always tell couples that the first 10 minutes of a session might feel a little awkward as we ask them to be basically be on a date with us and our cameras. No big deal, right?

Because we want that for you too, we’ll give you some direction and guidance so that you can get comfortable on the other side of the camera. Relaxing in front of the camera is basically a super power and Emily and Zack have it.
For their engagement session, we headed out of Lynchburg to Sweet Briar College so we could get the glorious view of the blue ridge mountains in the background right at sunset. It was completely worth it.
We also loved getting to know Emily and Zack and their love story - how they met, got engaged, and everything they’re cooking up for their wedding later this year. This adds to the long list of reasons why I love doing engagement photos - it’s right before wedding season is in full swing and we get the opportunity to connect with couples during their shoot.

It was just a week ago that we were traveling across the country to Seattle and Vegas for weddings and babies. While my body is still adjusting to the gloriousness of switching time zones, I am beyond thrilled to share this engagement session today.

The night before we flew out of town, Jackie and Dan brought their A-game to Forest, Virginia and let me tell you, this shoot made me want to do every single engagement session at Sierra Vista. The evening was relaxed, the sunset was amazing, and these guys were so incredibly joyful. Wrap that up in a cozy yellow blanket, and you’ve got a major win.

It's Launch Day!
We were engaged and living across the country from each other, trying to dismiss time zones and connect over the phone. “Let’s get married and start a business” He said. My reply was swift, “That sounds like a terrible idea.”

My reply was swift, “That sounds like a terrible idea.” So here we are, three years later with a dream that has captured both of us and we wouldn’t it trade for the world.
Today our new brand and site launches onto the internet and all over the globe – and if you’re reading this, we have you to thank! However, the biggest "Thank you" in the world goes to Kathryn from Crème Brands who gave life to everything we didn’t even know we were dreaming about. If you’re looking for a confident and heartfelt wedding brand, then she’s your gal.
