Timeless Southern Bridal Session | The Biltmore | Asheville, North Carolina

Much like family sessions, I never knew how much I would love doing bridal sessions. They sneak up on you with time and creative space that weddings don’t always allow for. So if you’re thinking about a bridal session, let’s talk!

Now that Rachel & Will are married and the film from their South Carolina wedding is at The FIND Lab, I can share some of my favorites from Rachel’s Bridal Session.

Now that Rachel & Will are married and the film from their South Carolina wedding is at The FIND Lab, I can share some of my favorites from Rachel’s Bridal Session. From the outside, it might not seem like narrowing these down for a post was hard but it was! To give you a little insight, I miiiight have shot 11 rolls for this session and, I kid you not, I could’ve shot more.

As far as the setting for this session, the classic Southern Bride knows that the Biltmore is the place to have portraits taken. Boasting the largest estate in America, it spans a little under 7,000 acres and you could spend a good three days there and still have more to explore.

For Rachel, it was important to her that her wedding dress was timeless. She wanted to be able to look at her wedding photos any year down the road and have it frozen in time by style. I would say she nailed it. Rachel chose a classic A-line ball gown with a lace overlay for the top. And to complete her gorgeous ensemble and sentiment, she wore her mother-in-law’s beautiful lace cathedral veil. Regardless of whether you’re looking for something traditional, modern, or anything in-between, what’s most important is that you know what you love, what represents your relationship, and what you feel comfortable in because that’s what makes it timeless because it’s you. And this is completely Rachel.

Janessa & Marcus | Sand Dunes Session | Boise, Idaho

Before moving to Idaho in my teens, I had some common misconceptions that there was nothing there besides potatoes. Turns out - like the majority of America - I was wrong.  The Gem State is full of beauty, boasting various terrains and is filled some of the kindest people you'll ever meet. Now being on the East Coast, I often miss big sky country, dry, hot summers, the drive-in movie theater, baking pies from freshly picked fruit, and the dear souls that are my friends.

Before moving to Idaho in my teens, I had some common misconceptions that there was nothing there besides potatoes. Turns out - like the majority of America - I was wrong.  The Gem State is full of beauty, boasting diverse terrains and it's filled with some of the kindest pie-baking and salsa-making people you'll ever meet. Now being on the East Coast, I often miss big sky country, dry, hot summers, the nostalgia of the drive-in movie theater, baking pies from freshly picked fruit, and the dear souls that are my friends. There really isn't a place like it and I never thought this Tampa Bay girl could love another state so much.

This Pacific North West state contains the best spots from the Treasure Valley to Moscow. Whether you're looking for snowcapped mountains and waterfalls, endless miles of plain desert, or heading up North to lake Coeur d'Alene's shore and thick forest line, Idaho has it. Not to mention the culture in Boise is giving Portland a run for its money.

So during a quick trip to Idaho this Summer for a wedding, I knew I wanted to do a shoot in the Bruneau Sand Dunes with Marcus & Janessa because their love and friendship is so comfortable. Also, sand dunes. I'm incredibly grateful that they indulged my vision and let me capture some amazing moments. The results are absolutely stunning and this will forever be one of my favorites.

Schwenk Family | Bethany Beach, Delaware

For most of my life, my beach world was the gulf coast of Tampa Bay. Specifically – Anna Maria Island in all of it’s glory. The past two years, I’ve been introduced to a new shore – one that’s become a sweet place of September relaxation with one of my favorite families, the Schwenks.

While there’s a lot of things I love about family vacation – I mean you had me at beach – I love that it feels natural with family. When you have a bunch of people who enjoy each other, the sun, the ocean, and relaxing; memories are born. We took a morning and braved the wind for family photos and I absolutely love how they turned out.

Using film has made us more intentional with our work and allowed us to slow down to ensure we’re capturing the moments and emotions we want to frame forever. A huge shout out to Lynn for letting us get on the other side of the lens during this Bethany Beach session so we could be part of the family.

Linus Drew Miller | Lifestyle Newborn Session | Lynchburg, VA

This little baby face easily makes it to the top of my list. Not only because he’s got the cutest expressions, but he’s also my nephew. Aside from being related and having impeccable style, his parents are two of my dearest friends and I love that I can take an evening off to snuggle with this guy in his modern nursery fit for a West Elm catalogue.

Linus has been a bright spot in everyone’s lives since he’s arrived and the only dog that’s still getting used to him is his big brother George.

Check out some of our favorite moments from his nursery being finished and his newborn session! We love you little Linus!
